Rehab Month

The people ask for an update, the people get an update. Mr. Abernathy asked if I fell off the side of the earth, nope, I just didn't know anyone wanted an update!

I have been seeing Dr. Murphy twice a week. He does the same isolation and readjustments every visit. We added an exercise where I lay on my side at the end of the table, Dr. Murphy isolated spots on the back, while his assistant moves my legs up and down, while I move my arm at the same pace. Again, it hurts in a good way.

I have been doing a good amount of work in December. Dr. Murphy calls it the "rehab month" so that I am ready to roll January 1. I have done 4 400s (1 lap) with about 2 minutes in between each 400. The pace is very slow compared to track workouts I have done in the past, but I'm rehabbing. On days when I am not running 400s, the plan varies. Last week on the non 400 days, I ran 18 minutes in the pool. It's exactly what it sounds like, I run just like I would except running in place in the pool at my local 24 Hour Fitness. Jack Husmann has done this quite a bit. So last week I did that 3 times, this week I will do it twice, and run 3 miles on the road one day. The week after it will be 1 pool run, and 2 three mile road runs.

Dr. Murphy has talked to Coach Traughber on the phone, and sent emails back in forth so that everyone is on the same page. The biggest difference now is that I am sore, not in pain like I was all during cross country season. I should be sore. I haven't done this kind of running since May. We are confident that soreness with be to a point where I will be ready to take the next step January 1.

It is nice to see all the guys out training when I am on the track. Keep up the great work guys, it is going to be a fun spring.

Thanks for reading.
