The Origin of the Smoothie

With Kabes and myself being beat down from pre-spring break test and papers the blog has been a little cold. But fear not the blog is still alive and we will be continuing with the regular schedule shortly. To make up for this lack of post, however, Potter has written us the true story about the origin of the smoothies enjoy...

"This past February, De Smet had a Friday off. Boyle had told Potter and Abernathy that we would have to come hang out in North County at least once before track season, so this off day seemed like best chance. The trio decided to get Stack in on it too, so we could go on a long run in the morning.

So Stack and Kabes met Potter at De Smet and the three made the long, often dangerous journey to North County. On the way there the three saw everything including a fire house with just one truck. After a night of ping pong, jenga, and How I Met Your Mother, it was time to get 8-10 hours of sleep.

After a good night's sleep, the runners got ready for the cold. It was freezing. Wind was howling. One step outside and the boys considered going back to sleep, but the run must go on. Boyle was nice enough to let Potter ride his bike that his girlfriend often rides because it was an elliptical day for his old man back. Figures, he was riding through North County, rode over a piece of glass, and popped the back tire.

At last the run was over. Boyle had promised the others pancakes....and smoothies. Stack, Potter, and Abernathy did not know what to expect from these smoothies. Boyle kept saying that these smoothies were the key to being great at life. Boyle, quickly whipped out the blender and the fruits he had removed from the freezer the night before. He added some other secret ingredients, and the smoothie was complete. Kabes and Stack drank first. Kabes dove right in, Stack was a little timid, but drank it down quickly after he finally tried it. Boyle gave Potter the other half of the second batch.

Potter and Stack then went on to create their own version of the smoothie. Each with their own unique touch. When word of the 2nd Annual Pancake Breakfast came, the smoothie makers knew there had to be a showdown. Could Potter defeat the one who taught him? O'Connor had heard the trash talking going back and forth, and wanted in. Although an underdog, no one knew exactly what OC could bring to the table.

The day and came, and OC shocked the world. Winning decisively. Using his own unique blend and style, OC took the competition, and proved the smoothies are the key to being a successful runner."

  3. i just feel like something has to be said about today's weather. the wind was crazy and the trek back was desmet was treacherous. the hurricane force winds mixed with hail made for a tough run. we all fearlessly went out there, braved the storm, and showed what it means to be a spartan
